Mother’s Day and A Blessed Solution

Mother’s Day Out

Celebrating mother’s day is something that many mothers will not be able to do simply because of the fact that they have small children to care for. This day is intended for every mother to have time to herself that would allow her to celebrate another year of helping others to become responsible and functional people within society.

Getting away can often be a very difficult task when you do not have someone that you can count on in order to take care of your child in the best way possible. Additionally, many mothers and simply not comfortable when it comes to putting their children into the hands of another person. The purpose of a mother’s day out is to solve many of these problems by offering a program that would teach children while the mother is free to most the most of the extra time.

Mother's Day and A Blessed Solution

A mother’s day out is a unique concept that is provided by the church in order to offer a means of being able to do something great during this special day. While a mother should have her time alone, this is often blocked because younger children need additional care. However, a mother’s day out would ensure that the children are supervised and lovingly cared for. Also, they will take part in teaching that are based around the bible. Any chance that a child is provided with when it comes to improving their education and understanding of the bible would be a great experience. Mothers will find this service to be a blessing during their special day.

Mother’s Day Ideas – Gifts and Ways to Celebrate

Mother’s Day is one of the most special days in a mother’s life. However it could also become the worst holiday if you fail to make your mom or wife happy during this special occasion. Unfortunately, for most people especially guys, buying the best gift or getting the most perfect treat for a mother could prove to be the hardest thing in the world.

Since nobody wants to spend  money on a gift that the other person will not love, this article will serve as a guide to what to give and what NOT to give to a mother on Mother’s day—or for that matter, or any other occasion.

Mothers’ Day Gift Ideas

The number one trend in finding a gift for a mom is to buy something that  she can use to pamper herself, of make her life more convenient herself. However, one rule you need to keep in mind is that you should make an effort to get her something really nice, whether its perfume or a kitchen gadget. If you want to buy her a perfume, for example, you don’t necessarily have to buy a designer brand (though it would certainly be appreciated if you can afford it). But do make sure to find a scent that she will find appealing.

Most mothers love anything that is eco-friendly, as well as most things that are garden-related. Buy her a bouquet of flowers (and don’t pick her prized roses!) You can also go for something kooky like silk flowers with floral scent: buy a vial of flower scent which she can apply to her flowers so she can enjoy the fragrance any time she wants. Better yet, get her some potted flowers that last longer, or potted fresh herbs for her cooking.

DON’T buy complicated techie gadgets which she won’t enjoy and probably wouldn’t use. Also don’t buy her something you want for yourself, in the hopes that she will just pass it on to you eventually. That defeats the purpose of doing something for your mother.

Lastly, DON’T buy her stuff that she really DOESN’T want – like cosmetic surgery certificates, exercise equipment, cellulite creams, or menopause supplements. If she really wants these things then she’ll buy them herself and besides, if it comes from other people, it only seems somewhat offensive.

If you want to see a smile on the face of your mom (or wife) on Mother’s Day then why not give her something you made or prepared yourself – like breakfast-in-bed, surprise party, or cook for her ready-made meals for the family to last for a week. The idea is to come up with gift that sends the message that you care and appreciate her role in your life.

Gift Ideas Mom will Surely Love

Being a mom is one of the hardest roles a woman can fulfill.  She is in charge of running the household and raising the kids.  When special occasions come around, moms certainly deserve a thoughtful gift to show how much she is appreciated.  If you want your mom to feel special, browse through the following gift suggestions.

  • A relaxing day at the spa would do wonders towards rejuvenating her. Schedule a massage, and a facial to give her spirits a much-needed lift.  Of course, she won’t be able to relax unless everything is all taken care of, so be sure to cover everything such as the kids and the chores for the day.  Field all calls and demands, so that nothing else will be on the agenda except her.
  • Take her to that museum she had always been dying to visit, or to the theatre. When mothers have children, it is all too easily to set aside one’s personal interests.  Let her get reacquainted with all the things she used to love before motherhood took over.
  • Arrange a total makeover.  Help mom rediscover the glamorous self she most probably buried in track suits and jeans.  There used to be a time when mom could devote all the time towards keeping herself beautiful.  Make her feel pretty by arranging a date at her favourite salon and have an accomplice pick out an outfit that would be flattering and chic enough for a dinner at a classy restaurant for later, so she can take her new look out on town.
  • Make her feel like a queen with a luxurious sleeping kit.  Pick out a silk nightgown with matching robe, some fuzzy bedroom slippers, and a bedazzled sleeping mask.  Throw in some satin pillowcases and you are all set.
  • Indulge her with the expensive item she has always coveted but would never buy for herself. It could be that designer makeup kit, or that expensive purse; moms are notorious for putting the needs of other family members ahead of her own especially when it comes to frills that she thinks are non-essential.  This gift suggestion will need some spying and sensitivity, so start scouting a few months ahead to get the perfect gift idea.
  • Get her a gift that will keep on giving. If you can afford it, get a maid that can come in at least once a week to give her some breathing room.  Or at the very least, take over household responsibilities yourself so that she can have time to unwind or decompress.  Set aside one night a week where you and other family members become responsible for shopping and preparing for dinner while mom snuggles with a new book or soaks in a warm bath.  Don’t forget to handle the cleaning up afterwards as well.

This post was written by Joana Chrystal Ventura-Moises, resident expert on plumbing and shower screen.  She is also a mom and would absolutely love to receive any one of the gifts suggested in this post.

A Special April Holiday

A Special April Holiday

At seven months pregnant, with Mother’s Day Date just around the corner, I have started to ask myself the question, “What is the role of a mother?” So far, I know it means the aches and pains of pregnancy and joy of little kicks. I have even considered the role of the father. What role will my husband play in raising our baby? As a “kid magnet” with high expectations of himself and others, I know he will provide endless hours of entertainment, help with homework, provide an example of sportsman-like conduct and plenty of rules about how to dress. Perhaps my first role as a mother was finding a good father.

The best example of motherhood in my life is my mother. My mother provided a framework for life and encouraged us to fill in the blanks. Endless hours of entertainment stimulated the mind, heart and soul. Homework was a playground for learning; an opportunity to ask countless questions about matters of the world. Sportsman-like conduct was a guide for how to treat people. Rules of dress were guidelines to aide in building self-esteem and respect for those around us.

My confidence, attitude and open-mindedness come from my mother. She taught me to love people and learning, and to give – if even just an ear. Until now, I’ve celebrated Mother’s Day for her. If I can do what she did to make the world a wonderful place for my children – Mother’s Day is an April Holiday we can share.
